I’m on a quest to find the nation’s best nachos…As part of my quest, I recently indulged in Goodwood Tatchos with some co-workers. These tatchos featured a blend of Louisville Lager beer cheese, peppers, onions, pickled jalapeños, and pickled onions, all on top of perfectly crispy tater tots.
One standout feature was the pickled jalapeños, which I personally prefer over fresh ones for their milder heat. The combination of the beer cheese with the tots created a crispy and creamy texture that was very delicious. However, I felt the dish could have been elevated with the addition of a protein. Goodwood offers options such as brisket, pork, or bourbon barrel stout chili, and I believe one of these would’ve taken the tatchos to the next level.
Despite the tasty ingredients, I found myself missing some classic nacho toppings— pico de gallo, salsa, sour cream, and guac. The lack of these extras kept the dish from reaching its full potential in my opinion.
Overall, the Goodwood Tatchos were a satisfying and tasty appetizer, earning a solid 7/10 from me. The nacho hunt continues!
